July is National Parks and Recreation Month! Help Grove City Parks and Recreation staff celebrate by joining us for special Pop-up Parks, 11 a.m. to noon, Thursdays in July. Each week features free, informal activities based on a new theme in a different park – play games, make crafts and use equipment specific to the Grove City park site.
Pop-up Parks schedule:
- July 7: Grant-Sawyer Home, 4124 Haughn Road | History
Members of the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society will be on hand to help Parks and Recreation staff lead activities and games similar to what children spent their free time doing when the homestead was first occupied.
- July 14: Gantz Park, 2259 Home Road | Nature Play
Grove City Parks and Recreation staff will lead a variety of activities related to nature in Grove City’s oldest park dedicated to nature including scavenger hunts and excursions into the nature play areas.
- July 21: Henceroth Park, 2075 Mallow Lane | Fitness Fun
There is plenty to do in this park to stay active including fitness equipment, paved paths, play structures and a large field. Staff will be on hand to lead fun activities featuring these spaces.
- July 28: Indian Trails Park, Buckeye Parkway north of Rising Sun Drive | Yard/Outdoor Games
Have you tried the new Gaga pit yet? Try this fun form of dodgeball as well as a variety of other outdoor games new and old.
