Planning a garage sale?

  • Garage Sale permits are required for all addresses holding a garage or yard sale within the City limits.
  • Permits are free, the application is available below.
  • Permits may also be obtained by phone at 614-277-3000 or in-person at City Hall, 4035 Broadway, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Approved permits will be emailed to applicants. Please allow two business days for approval.

REGULATIONS

Garage sale regulations are found in Grove City Code, Chapter 713. Highlights below:

  • A garage sale is defined as the display or advertisement of five or more articles of tangible personal property for sale.
  • In the residential zoned districts only.
  • Only two garage sale permits can be issued in a 12-month period.
  • Permits are valid for no more than three consecutive days and may not be operated after sunset.

  • PERMITS
    A garage sale in Grove City requires a permit which must be on site when the sale opens. Each city address is permitted two sales per year.
  • SIGNS
    Signs are not permitted on utility poles, street or stop signs or public property, including the right-of-way between the sidewalk and the street. Illegally posted signs will be removed. One sign announcing the sale may be erected on the premises at which the sale is being conducted, and two signs may be erected off the premises. Such signs shall be erected no earlier than the night before the first day of the sale, and such signs shall be removed no later than the close of the final day of the sale. The signs or placards may be no larger than three square feet.
  • PENALTY
    Each violation is a fourth degree misdemeanor, punishable with a fine up to $250 as provided by Chapter 713 of the Codified Ordinances.
