The Demorest Road project will include full-depth pavement reconstruction and widening of the roadway segment. Improvements also include a multi-use path, sidewalk, street lighting and updates to the stormwater system.

The project is currently in the concept development phase.  At this time, the City is preparing to apply for grant and/or loan assistance through the State Capital Improvement Program and/or the Local Transportation Improvement Program.

The Demorest Road Corridor Improvements project will extend along Demorest Road between Chickasaw Drive on the south and Basswood Avenue on the north. The major construction activity will occur between Rockledge Street and Basswood Avenue, where the roadway will be widened and reconstructed to include a center turn lane with curbs, sidewalks, a shared-use path and new street lighting along with sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main improvements. Additionally, a traffic signal will be added at the intersection of Demorest and Grove City roads. The area of the project that lies between Chickasaw Drive and Rockledge Street will be limited to sanitary sewer improvements and resurfacing of the existing roadway.
