Demorest Road Closures

Due to safety concerns and unforeseen conditions, lane restrictions for the Demorest Road Improvements project, between Grove City Road and Basswood Avenue, have changed to full road closures to through traffic until October 2022. The schedule of construction events is:

  • Demorest Road is closed to northbound traffic between Grove City Road and Rockledge Street until end of day Friday, April 29 (delayed due to weather). Residents of the Tanglebrook and Autumn Grove subdivisions must use Rensch Road to exit these neighborhoods, please plan your commute accordingly.
  • Demorest Road north of Grove City Road to Basswood Avenue remains closed to all through traffic through Oct. 2022. Only local traffic (those residents living within the closure or those needing access to Beulah Park Middle School site or the Seventh Day Adventist Church) should enter the construction zone and travel northbound to their home through the closure area. Follow posted detours.
  • Full closure of the Grove City and Demorest roads intersection for 30 days for traffic signal installation and intersection widening will occur in October, dates to be announced. Detours will be posted and may vary by destination.

Demorest Road north of Grove City Road will remain closed to through traffic between Grove City Road and Basswood Drive until October 2022.

Residents within the closure will have access to their property through the construction zone and may experience minor delays. Local traffic will be northbound only. Mail and trash services will be maintained through the area.

Demorest Road improvements include a center turn lane, sidewalks, curbs, a shared-use path, new street lighting, water main, sanitary and storm sewer improvements. Additionally, a traffic signal will be added at the intersection of Demorest and Grove City roads.

All work is weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to use extra care when traveling near the construction area.

Please view our Road Closures and Construction Updates web page for detours and up-to-date information for specific locations within this closure.

The main entrance and  parking lot for Breck Community Park are closed for the duration of the project, anticipated to be completed in October 2022. The off-leash dog areas are closed through May, for the installation of artificial turf in high-traffic areas. Please visit the Grove City Parks and Facilities Improvement Projects page for updates.

Demorest Road (within closure)

Demorest Road residents within the construction zone are asked to use caution and yield to construction crews and equipment. Motorists may experience short delays. Local access will be maintained; however, travel through the zone will remain northbound only. Therefore, residents’ trash and mail servicers will need to enter the zone from the south (Grove City Road), navigate northbound through the area, and exit at the northernmost limit. A city project inspector will be onsite and may be contacted with construction and access concerns. Crews will notify residents of any impending closures.

Anglebrook Drive

Residents on Anglebrook Drive will not have access to Demorest Road. The City provided access at the west end of the street, utilizing Larchmere Drive. Detours and signage detailing No Through Traffic will be posted.

Tanglebrook and Autumn Grove Subdivisions

Demorest Road, between Grove City Road and Rockledge Street, is closed to northbound traffic until Monday, April 25. Residents should utilize the posted detour to Rensch Road. Starting Monday, April 25, all roads within these subdivisions will be open and cleared of construction materials. During the closure of the Grove City and Demorest roads intersection, residents will be detoured to Rensch Road via Demorest Road within the subdivisions. Drivers should follow posted detour and speed limit signs.

Demorest Road, within Tanglebook, will be resurfaced in November when the entire project corridor receives surface course pavement. Final restoration in the area will be completed in the fall when the entire corridor can be treated to take advantage of the fall growing season.

The project was designed to improve safety within this heavily traveled corridor, while enhancing access from the surrounding residential subdivisions to Breck Community Park, Brookpark Middle School and the Town Center.

The City of Grove City was awarded funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the reconstruction and widening of Demorest Road from Basswood Avenue to Big Run South Road.

The Demorest Road project will include full-depth pavement reconstruction and widening of the roadway segment. Improvements also include a multi-use path, sidewalk, street lighting and updates to the stormwater system.

The project is currently in the concept development phase.  At this time, the City is preparing to apply for grant and/or loan assistance through the State Capital Improvement Program and/or the Local Transportation Improvement Program.
