Grove City is close to making a dream reality with the groundbreaking for an all-access “Dream Field” at Windsor Park, 3400 Ventura Blvd. at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 12.

The Grove City Dream Field, most easily accessed from Ventura Boulevard, is a baseball facility that makes the game accessible to ballplayers of all abilities. The field will feature a rubberized surface safe for all ballplayers and navigable for those using wheelchairs and walkers.

The project, an effort of the Grove City Little League® Board in coordination with the City of Grove City, will provide players in the southern half of central Ohio the opportunity to enjoy the same rite of passage as their able-bodied counterparts.

All are welcome to attend the event to recognize the organizers and many donors who have made this project possible as well as to see renderings of the facility and learn more about future events there.

By spring 2016, Grove City will feature regular leagues for players of all abilities, many of whom have participated in exhibition Buddy Ball games. The contests feature players with physical or mental challenges receiving assistance from adults or other children who aid them in batting, catching, throwing and running the bases as needed.

Business and community members can do their part to support the construction and maintenance of the Grove City Dream Field by purchasing T-shirts, commemorative plaques and bricks, and committing to purchasing a special license plate. More information can be found at the Grove City Little League website or by calling 614-906-6500.
