Mayor’s Court | Effective Wednesday, June 24, 2020
Attendance/appearance in Mayor’s Court is limited to defendants and attorneys only. Defendants bringing minors must call the clerk to discuss a continuance.
- The court entrance will be locked and attendees will be permitted in upon arrival.
- Individuals will be directed to a check-in and verification station. Attendees must answer the symptom survey questionnaire and submit to a temperature check.
- If a symptomatic temperature is detected, the individual will be denied access to court and offered a continuance.
- Staff will close the area and decontaminate all surfaces.
- After completing the survey, visitors/defendants will check in with the clerk.
- All individuals entering Mayor’s Court shall wear face coverings, the City will provide one if necessary.
- Defendants may be directed to wait in the court room, maintaining six-foot distancing. If seating is not available in the court room, the defendant will wait outside. The clerk will call or text the defendant to advise when seating becomes available.
- Waiting in the lobby is not permitted. The lobby is dedicated to the check-in/verification station and clerk transactions.
Grove City’s Mayor’s Court hears all misdemeanor offenses that take place within Grove City. Exceptions include: second offense driving under the influence (OVI), second offense driving under DUI suspension and domestic violence cases.
Mayor’s Court is administered by a Mayor-appointed magistrate and cases are heard each Wednesday.
- 9 a.m. Failure to comply with previous court orders
- 10 a.m. Criminal cases and minor traffic arraignments
- 11 a.m. Cases requiring interpreters
- 1 p.m. Pre-trial cases
- 2:30 p.m. Driving under suspension, OVI and major traffic offenses
- 3:30 p.m. Trial cases

Proof of Insurance
Proof of insurance is required on the vehicle you were driving on the date and time you were cited. Failure to provide proof may result in your license being suspended for a minimum of 90 days.
