Ready for spring? It is time to start planning your spring and summer, and what better way to enjoy the warmer seasons than experiencing the great American pastime? Grove City Parks and Recreation is holding registration for the spring-summer Little League® baseball season during the month of February. Participants sign up at City Hall, 4035 Broadway, Monday, Feb. 1 through Friday, March 4 or until the each league fills. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Children ages 5 through 17 are eligible to participate. Per Little League® International, age determination is based on the player’s age on Aug. 31, 2016, if born Sept. 1, 2005 or later; April 30, 2016, if born Aug. 31, 2005 or earlier. Fees for residents of Grove City or Jackson Township are $70 per player for T-ball through Minor 7-8; $90 for Minor 9-10 through Big League. Participants who reside outside the city/township corporate limits are eligible to play, but are required to pay an additional $10 non-resident fee.

To sign up, bring full payment and proof of residency (e.g. current utility bill, check stub, bank statement) to receive the resident fee. Be ready to provide a uniform size and emergency contact information. The registration form must be signed by a legal guardian. A birth certificate must be shown for those participating in the Grove City Parks and Recreation baseball program for the first time.

Practices begin Monday, April 4, and opening day is Saturday, May 7. Games are at Windsor Park, 4330 Dudley Ave./4408 Broadway. Players in the leagues for ages 9 and older should attend an observation Saturday, March 19, to assist coaches in drafting players. Players in T-ball, Minor 6 and Minor 7-8 leagues are assigned to teams and do not have observations. All leagues play twice per week. Postponed games are made up on Saturdays; occasional double headers may be scheduled.
