Whether you’re a veteran gardener or just appreciate the scent of a fragrant herb, grow your knowledge and garden for a purpose as a Gardens at Gantz volunteer. The volunteer classes are Thursday, Sept. 7, 21 and 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gantz Farmhouse, 2255 Home Road. Volunteers must attend all three classes.
Volunteers have supported the Gardens at Gantz Farm since 1991 through education, fundraising and charitable efforts in Grove City and nearby communities. This diverse group of men and women operate as an independent, non-profit organization. Volunteers encourage the interest in and use of herbs, assist with the development and historic preservation of the Gardens at Gantz Farm and have fun along the way. This session is open to residents and non-residents, the deadline to register is Tuesday, Sept. 5. Visit the Gardens at Gantz web page to download the application or call 614-871-6323 for additional information.
Gardens at Gantz Farm fall classes
The Gardens at Gantz Farm classes are a great way to introduce the entire family to the outdoors and all its wonders. Cook up or make surprises to enjoy on fall evenings.
Did you grow great herbs all summer and are looking for ways to preserve their goodness now that fall has arrived? Visit the Gardens with scissors in hand to gather fresh herbs to dry naturally and fashion into a swag to use as a beautiful kitchen adornment purely as a decoration or to access the dried herbs to season food during the winter. Gardens at Gantz volunteer Mary Jane LaLonde leads the class from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22. Register for $10 ($12 for non-residents) using Activity #: 210378.06.
Take coarse salt or sugar and add flowers, herbs and essential oils to make a Salt Scrub to slough off dry skin in the shower. Don’t spend $20 at the store – make it for much less. Join garden volunteers from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6. Register for $8 ($9 for non-residents) using Activity #: 211378.01.
