Each year the nation pauses to remember and pay homage to the brave men and women who were wounded or paid the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms of all Americans.

The City of Grove City observes National Purple Heart Day with a brief ceremony at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Henceroth Park, 2075 Mallow Lane, behind Jackson Middle School. All are invited to join us in honoring and showing our appreciation to Purple Heart recipients and their families.

The Purple Heart Flag will be raised at the Purple Heart Walk in Henceroth Park to honor those heroic individuals who received the medal. Grove City was designated a Purple Heart City by the Military Order of the Purple Heart in July 2017 in recognition of the community’s commitment to those killed and wounded in combat. The Purple Heart Walk was dedicated soon after in further acknowledgment of these military heroes.
