Garage Sale Information and Weekly Listings
Individuals, families or neighbors – planning a garage sale? The City of Grove City would like to remind residents of garage sale regulations. Per City Code, Chapter 713, a garage sale is defined as the display or advertisement for sale of five or more articles of tangible personal property in any residential zoning district. Residential zoning includes single-family and multi-family homes, apartments and condominiums.
A garage sale application must be completed and approved by the City of Grove City prior to the first day of the sale. The fee for a garage sale permit is $2 and applications are available in City Hall, 4035 Broadway. Only two garage sale licenses can be issued for a single address in any 12-month period. Licenses are valid for no more than three consecutive days. Garage sales shall not be conducted after sunset.
Signs are not permitted on utility poles, street or stop signs or public property, including the right-of-way between the sidewalk and the street. Illegally posted signs will be removed. One sign announcing the sale may be erected on the premises at which the sale is being conducted, and two signs may be erected off the premises. Such signs shall be erected no earlier than the night before the first day of the sale, and such signs shall be removed no later than the close of the final day of the sale. The signs or placards may be no larger than three square feet.
New this year, an updated list of permitted Grove City garage sales will be posted on the City website each week. In order to have your sale on the list, you must purchase your permit by noon on Thursday. Permits obtained after that time are still valid but a listing on the City website is not guaranteed.
Information outlining the regulations is available in City Hall, 4035 Broadway, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday or call 614-277-3000.
