Broadway Intersection Improvement Project Construction
Through early December crosswalk re-construction is ongoing as part of the Broadway Intersection Improvement project between Kingston Avenue and Cleveland Avenue. The purpose of the project is to enhance Town Center vehicle and pedestrian mobility and safety. This project will be completed in two phases. Phase I, currently under construction, includes the installation of new brick crosswalks at Kingston Avenue intersection and at all side streets north of Kingston up to and including Cleveland Avenue. In addition to new brick crosswalks, there will be upgrades to traffic signal pedestrian buttons for the purpose of improving pedestrian safety. There will be limited sidewalk replacement as part of the project.
Phase 2, planned for spring 2014, will include the removal of the remaining existing bricks located in Broadway (to be replaced with asphalt) and the construction of new brick crosswalks at the same intersections noted in Phase 1. During Phase 2 construction, traffic will be maintained on Broadway.
Please note all dates are tentative, the work is weather dependent, the schedule will be updated as needed. During construction, traffic will be maintained on Broadway, detours are posted.
PHASE 1 SCHEDULE:
Park Street is closed to through traffic east of Broadway to Arbutus Avenue through Thursday, Dec. 5
Please note, limited parking will be available on Park Street within the construction zone.
Phase 2 is expected to begin in spring 2014 and should be completed by mid-summer.
City officials ask for your patience while these important improvements are completed to update and enhance the Town Center.
