Garage Sale Regulations
The City of Grove City would like to remind residents of garage sale regulations. Per City Code, Chapter 713, a garage sale is the display or advertisement for sale of five or more articles of tangible personal property in any residential zoning district within the City. This includes multi-family homes, apartments and condominiums.
An application should be completed in City Hall, 4035 Broadway, at least 10 days in advance of the first day of the sale. Garage sale applications must be approved by the City prior to issuance. The fee for a garage sale permit is $2. Only two garage sale licenses can be issued for a single address in any 12-month period. Licenses are valid for no more than three consecutive days. Garage sales shall not be conducted after sunset.
No signs are permitted on public property, including the area of grass between the sidewalk and the street, and all utility poles. Illegally posted signs will be removed. One sign announcing the sale may be erected on the premises at which the sale is being conducted, and two signs may be erected off the premises. Such signs shall be erected no earlier than the night before the first day of the sale, and such signs shall be removed no later than the close of the final day of the sale. The signs or placards may be no larger than three square feet.
Information outlining the regulations is available in City Hall, 4035 Broadway, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., or call 614-277-3000 or visit Garage Sale Frequently Asked Questions.
