Grove City Team Sports

The Grove City Parks and Recreation Department offers opportunities for adults and youths to participate in a variety of team sports. Youth sign up as individuals, and adults register by team. Additional opportunities for seniors are available through the Evans Center. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Office at (614) 277-3050.

2008 Registration Dates

Youth sports participants register by individual and receive a team uniform. Registration must be completed in person at the Parks and Recreation office. Adult sports participants register by team; uniforms are not provided.

Adult Team Sports

Adult Slow-Pitch Leagues (Spring/Summer)
Grove City Parks and Recreation offers slow-pitch softball leagues for men’s, women’s and co-rec teams at Fryer Park. Competitive and recreational teams are welcome. The office is registering teams in March for $365 per team for a 10-game season in the spring and summer. Men’s leagues play Monday through Friday, the co-rec league plays Sunday afternoons, women’s teams play on Mondays, and a church league plays Thursday nights.

Adult Flag Football League (Spring)
New for 2007, the Parks and Recreation Department is offering seven-on-seven adult flag football in the spring. The league starts in April and games are played on Sunday mornings at Brookpark Middle School. It runs approximately eight weeks followed by playoffs. Teams register in March for $375 per team, which includes officials, awards, and equipment.

Adult Slow-Pitch Leagues (Fall)
Do you prefer your softball with a pitch count instead of the one-pitch format used in most fall leagues? Then fall adult softball in Grove City is for you. Register by team at the Parks and Recreation office during July. Cost is $290 per team for an eight-game season at Windsor Park which begins in mid-August.

Wiffle®ball (Spring/Fall)
Back by poplular demand Grove City Parks and Recreation is offering an adult 5 on 5 Wiffle®ball league on Sunday afternoons at Windsor Park. Games are played without officials; teams make their own calls based on an honor system. A six-game season begins Sunday, May 4 for the Spring league and Sunday, July 20 for the Fall league followed by a season-ending tournament. Registration fee is $80 per team. Players must be 18 or older. If interested, please contact Michael Craig at 277-3050 or mcraig@grovecityohio.gov.

Tennis League
Grove City Parks and Recreation is offering adult tennis leagues for male and female singles and mixed doubles at Windsor Park. Enter at 3.0 or 3.5-4.0 level and you will be matched up with local players for one match to be played per week.  There will be a tournament at the end of the season.  League and tournament winners will receive an award.  A T-shirt will be provided for all participants.  Costs are $40 per person for singles and $45 per team for doubles. Individuals can sign up for both singles and doubles for $50. 

Adult Flag Football League (Fall)
Grove City hosts a seven-on-seven adult flag football league in September and October played on Sunday mornings at Brookpark Middle School, 2803 Southwest Blvd. Registration is by team during July at $375 per team, which includes eight games. The season begins the second week of September.

Adult Co-Rec Volleyball League (Winter)
An adult volleyball league plays Sunday afternoons December through February at the Grove City Activity Center. Cost of the league is $265 per team. Both competitive and recreation divisions are offered.

Adult Basketball League (Winter)
An adult basketball league plays Sunday evenings starting on Jan. 7. Cost of the league is $460 per team. Games are played at the Grove City Activity Center starting between 5 and 9 p.m. Each team plays a minimum of 10 games.

Youth Team Sports

Youth Baseball (Spring/Summer)
The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a recreational baseball program that fosters your child's enjoyment, sportsmanship, basic skills and teamwork. The spring/summer league runs May through July. Registration for the spring/summer leagues is during the entire month of February. All sport registration needs to be done in person at the Parks and Recreation Office, 4035 Broadway.

Practices are March 31 through May 2.

Opening Day is Saturday, May 3.

Picture Day is Saturday, May 10.

The season runs the month of May through the month of July. Dates are approximate and based on weather conditions. Games postponed due to weather will be made up on Saturdays.

Age and Residency Requirements
All children between the ages of 5 and 16 (league placement is based upon age as of April 30, 2008) who live in Grove City or Jackson Township are eligible to participate. Participants who reside outside the city/township corporate limits are eligible to play, but are required to pay a $10 non-resident fee.

First-time Registrants
To register a player participating for the first time in the Grove City Youth Baseball Program, bring the following to the Parks and Recreation Office:

  • Participant’s birth certificate
  • Proof of Grove City residency (i.e. current utility bill, current check stub, bank statement) to be eligible for resident rate.
  • Full payment fee

Youth Baseball (Fall)
The fun doesn't stop when school goes back in session. Cooler temperatures and deep blue skies are perfect weather for the national pastime. The Grove City recreational baseball program offers a fall league for players aged 5 through 15. Participants from outside of the Grove City/Jackson Township limits are eligible but must pay the non-resident fee. League assignments are based upon age on Aug. 1. Registration runs Mondy, June 2, through Monday, June 30. There is an additional $20 charge for late registration. Practice begins August 4. The first games are August 23.

Youth Volleyball (Fall)
Grove City Parks and Recreation offers a fall indoor volleyball league for youths in grades four through 12 in the following age divisions: junior (grades 4-5), intermediate (grade 6), middle (grade 7-8) and senior (grades 9-12). Players register in person by individual between Friday, Aug. 1 and Friday, Aug. 29. Cost is $55 per player (NR $60). Practices start mid-september, with games starting the first week of October.

Youth Basketball (Winter)
Basketball leagues are offered for students in first through 12th grades. Practices begin in December, and the season runs January through March. Cost is $83 per player (NR:$88).

Senior Team Sports

Senior Softball League (Spring/Summer)
The Grove City Senior Club operates a men's senior softball team. Games are played Monday and Wednesday evenings. Players must be 60 or older and be an Evans Center member. Interested players should contact head coach Jim Vawter at 875-8228 or the Senior Center at 277-1060.

Chair Volleyball (Year-round)
More fun than you can possibly stand - while seated! Anyone can enjoy this fun-filled game played with a beach ball while seated. No need to be athletic, just come ready to laugh. Chair volleyball is great for upper body mobility. Occasional home or away matches are played versus teams from other centers. Minibus transportation is provided for away games. Matches are held on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings. Call 277-1060 for more information.
