The Department works in coordination with the Grove City Division of Police, the Jackson Township Fire Department, and the Grove City Community Relations Office to produce a full slate of community events such as the Blast at Beulah celebration of American independence, Balloons Off Broadway hot air balloon event, and the Winter Lights holiday event.
Parks and Recreation has an ongoing commitment to acquiring and developing public green spaces and expanding recreational programming. New developments include gardening programs developed specifically for youths (Sprouts) and for senior citizens (Raised Garden), a recently completed survey of teen interests, and resurfacing of the tennis at Windsor Park. New facilities at Henceroth Park near Jackson Middle School are in the planning stages.
In 2006, the Parks and Recreation Department became one of just 60 departments nationwide and only the fifth in Ohio to gain full accreditation from the National Recreation and Parks Association.
