Below is general social, economic and housing information obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau and is a part of the American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS is the cornerstone of the government's effort to keep pace with the nation's changing population and ever-increasing demands for timely and relevant data about population and housing characteristics. The survey, conducted as part of the 2010 Decennial Census Program, will provide current demographic, socio-economic and housing information about America's communities every year - information that until now was only available once a decade.

The population of Grove City has been increasing since it was established in 1852. Similar to many Central Ohio suburbs the population increased rapidly during the 1960s and 1970s and has seen moderate growth in the past decade. Grove City is a middle-class suburb that strives to offer a wide range of housing options, from affordable to luxurious, to its citizens.

From 2005-2007, Grove City had a total population of 33,000 - 17,000 (51 percent) females and 16,000 (49 percent) males. The median age was 37.5 years. Twenty-nine percent of the population was under 18 years and 11 percent was 65 years and older.

For people reporting one race alone, 95 percent was White; 2 percent was Black or African American; less than 0.5 percent was American Indian and Alaska Native; 1 percent was Asian; less than 0.5 percent was Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander and 1 percent was some other race. One percent reported two or more races. Two percent of the people in Grove City were Hispanic. Ninety-three percent of the people in Grove City were White non-Hispanic. People of Hispanic origin may be of any race.

From 2005-2007 there were 13,000 households in Grove City. The average household size was 2.6 people.
Families made up 68 percent of the households in Grove City. This figure includes both married-couple families (55 percent) and other families (13 percent). Among the most common occupations in Grove City were management, professional and related occupations, 35 percent; sales and office occupations, 28 percent; service occupations, 17 percent; production, transportation, and material moving occupations, 13 percent; and construction, extraction, maintenance and repair occupations, 7 percent. Seventy-eight percent of the people employed were private wage and salary workers; 17 percent was federal, state, or local government workers; and 6 percent was self-employed, not incorporated business workers.
Travel to work
Eighty-seven percent of Grove City workers drove to work alone from 2005-2007, 8 percent carpooled, 1 percent took public transportation, and 1 percent used other means. The remaining 3 percent worked at home. It took commuters an average of 21.1 minutes to get to work.
